Cheslin Kolbe's wife, Layla Kolbe, has broken her silence after the Springbok wing was rushed to hospital following a jaw injury he sustained during the Boks' dramatic 29-24 victory over the All Blacks at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, 5 September 2026. Layla took to Instagram to share photos of Cheslin in his hospital bed, tagging his location as Johannesburg.
In a deeply personal post shared on Sunday, 6 September 2026, Layla did not go into detail about the severity of the injury but made clear that the family was leaning on their faith to carry them through.
"I don't want to say too much, but the enemy is definitely working overtime, and we rebuke and cancel it in Jesus name," she wrote. "We serve a mighty miracle-working God who is greater than anything that comes against us."

Cheslin Kolbe responds from his hospital bed
Despite his condition, Cheslin found a moment to respond directly to his wife's post. In a comment left roughly 12 hours after Layla's upload, Cheslin wrote:
"Love you, my love. Thank you for everything 😘❤️🙏"
Layla also shared a second post reflecting on a full and emotional day, noting that their daughter Kylah and her dance group had pushed through a long day to claim a competition win.
"And to the Bokke, they always seem to fight even harder when they're thrown into the deep end. What a team. What a fight," she added.
