Uzalo's Thembinkosi Thwala reveals that he used to earn R2300 a month before acting

Thembinkosi Thwala was not always a flashy actor. Before he was the heartthrob on SABC's Uzalo Thwala worked from through night as a packed at Checkers in Eastgate.

He reveals how his normal day used to go before he struck fame.

'When the store closed we'd come in and place products on the shelves. We'd get in at 6 in the evening and pack until 6 in the morning.'

With his days free he didn't waste any time. He would attend acting classes which had been a passion for him since his days in high school.

His life has dramatically changed for the better since he began acting. His salary at Checkers was a paltry R2300 which he had to use to raise his two children.

He is grateful for the lessons he has learned struggling to take care of his family and allows him to portray more realistic characters on screen.
