Babes Wodumo is trending on Twitter and getting a lot of attention - most of it negative.

The reason? Babes has been accused of mocking fellow musician, Lady Zamar, for having acne and even calling her a really bad word in Zulu.

However, the controversial Gqom muso is claiming her account was hacked, and her fans are backing her up.

This is a response by Babes that can be found on the Twitter account:

"I said what I said and I don’t care if you guys hate me or not I’m proud. I meant what I said hence why the video is everywhere so that you guys can see! I can drop a song anytime you guys will still download it and book me as well so f*k*f!!"

This is what got her followers suspicious. They are certain Babes would not type a whole tweet in English or use the word 'hence'.

Here are some of the tweets that were in her defence:

Not everyone is convinced though. Many feel the same as @green_terro:

"Just don't claim you were hacked or that someone else sent the tweet using your account when you finally get the smoke you've been looking for."

Briefly.co.za noticed that Babes isn't impressed with the bad press she's getting and retweeted a follower's comment on the matter:
