South Africa seems to be on a winning streak globally. Our Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, has been nominated for the BBC World Sports Star of the Year award. He is up against Tiger Woods and runner Eliud Kipchoge, among others.

Kolisi has insisted that the World Cup win was a team effort after he received the nomination. Other starts who have been nominated include Tiger Woods, runner Eliud Kipchoge and former Australian Cricket captain, Steve Smith.

Briefly.co.za previously reported that Siya Kolisi was named among the top 100 most influential Africans by a popular magazine. The Springbok captain shared the spoils with top business leaders and a Nobel Peace Prize winner. The list serves to showcase influential and talented Africans to the world. It is separated into eight different groupings, which include arts and culture, public office and politics.
