  • Football analyst Themba Modise spoke exclusively to Briefly News and shared his bold prediction for the showpiece

The stage is set for one of South African football's most anticipated cup finals, as Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will go head-to-head in the MTN8 final this season.

The Brazilians secured their place in the showpiece after eliminating Lamontville Golden Arrows in the semi-finals, while the Buccaneers booked their spot by seeing off Sekhukhune United. With both clubs widely regarded as the Premier Soccer League's dominant forces, the final is already generating enormous buzz across the country.

## Modise's Bold Call for the Final

Football analyst and Sundowns supporter Themba Modise sat down with Briefly News to share his take on how the final will play out, and he didn't hold back.

"Orlando Pirates have had a good record against us in finals recently, but I think Miguel Cardoso might end that this season in the MTN8 finals," Modise said.

He went further, putting a scoreline on his prediction: "I think we the Brazilians will defeat the Bucs 2-1 in this year's final."

## Pirates' Final Pedigree Under Scrutiny

Modise's nod to Pirates' recent record in finals is well-founded, as the Buccaneers have proven themselves difficult opponents in knockout deciders. However, he believes the arrival of Portuguese tactician Miguel Cardoso at Sundowns changes the equation, suggesting the coach brings a different dimension that could tip the balance in favour of the Tshwane giants.

The MTN8 final promises to be a mouthwatering contest between two clubs that have consistently traded blows at the top of South African football. Both sets of supporters will be eagerly counting down to what could be a defining moment in this season's silverware race.
