Patron tips waiter R2 690 for New Year's and inspires South Africans

There has been a challenge that South Africans have been participating in which involves tipping waiters 100% of the meal cost. A man shared that he did exactly that when he recently tipped his waiter a whopping R2 690.

Ian Penderis‎ took to the #ImStaying to post his receipt that showed that he tipped the exact amount that was spent dining out. The total added up to R5 380. He captioned the picture:

"Because together we are better #imstaying"

His post received over 10 000 mixed reactions. Although many were inspired, a few others were not too impressed. Facebook user Louise van Niekerk said:

"WHY THIS NEGATIVITY they do not get a salary the tips are what they earn so well done to all the took this amazing gesture to pay the total bill plus the same for a tip. You all rock love"
