Former Lions coach Eugene Eloff says the Springboks are not content with their recent Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series triumph and are determined to add the Nations Championship to their growing collection of trophies.

South Africa wrapped up the series against the All Blacks 3-1 before turning their attention to a one-off Test against the Wallabies in Perth next Sunday. The world champions will then travel to Europe in November to face Italy, France and Ireland in the Nations Championship.

Speaking to Netwerk24, Eloff was clear about the squad's mentality heading into the tournament. "There is another competition that we have to go and win," he said. "And I can tell you now they are not going there just to play in it, they want to win it too."

He added that head coach Rassie Erasmus would also use the Nations Championship fixtures to strengthen the player pool. "I think Rassie will also want to further build the depth of his squad and give some younger players an opportunity," Eloff said. "It will be interesting to see how the younger players measure up against Italy, France and Ireland."

Beyond the immediate competition schedule, Eloff pointed to the foundations underpinning South Africa's sustained dominance in world rugby. He credited development structures at every level of the game for producing a consistent pipeline of talent.

"Our processes are working, our school rugby is good, our U20 rugby is good," Eloff said. "At primary-school level, the guys are already developing a rugby culture."

The Nations Championship in November represents an opportunity for the Springboks to further cement their status as the dominant force in world rugby while simultaneously preparing the next generation of players for Test-level competition.
