It's 2021 and citizens all over Mzansi are excited to have made it another year. 2020 was like no other, especially with the Covid-19 pandemic hitting the country so hard.

South African political parties are usually competitive with each other but they put it aside on 1 January 2021 to wish all citizens a Happy New Year.

Briefly.co.za compiled a number of New Year's messages from the major political parties in South Africa.

Democratic Alliance (DA)

The DA wished their followers a very happy new year with a sweet message to seal the deal.

Covid 19 update: Citizens alarmed as 18 000 new cases are reported
May 2021 bring you prosperity, peace, and health. From our DA family to you, we wish you a very happy and hopeful 2021. Please celebrate safely and responsibly, be mindful of social distancing, mask-wearing, and sanitizing. Happy New Year!" said the DA.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)

In true EFF fashion, the political party motivated its followers to better themselves and fight inequality. They said:

"May 2021 be a year where we disabuse ourselves from corruption, white-supremacy and poverty, that continues to define our great nation and continent."
"Let us use 2021 to consolidate the country and the continent towards independence, economic prosperity and political stability."

"President Cyril Ramaphosa lighting a candle to remember all those who succumbed to COVID 19. May GOD bless and heal our beautiful nation as we start 2021. Stay at home. Wear your mask," said the ANC.

Briefly.co.za previously reported on Cyril Ramaphosa's New Year's Message. President Cyril Ramapohsa shared a New Year's message with South Africa, discussing how South Africa has made it through an incredibly difficult time as Covid-19 had caused untold damage to South Africa.
