The creator posted the tutorial on 27 October in a casual home setting. She shared instructions that quickly caught the attention of job seekers online.
The method by @fadzieai starts simply enough. Open ChatGPT, upload your CV, and tell it to act as a senior recruiter. From there, you ask it to identify roughly 20 job titles you qualify for, flag the skills and keywords those roles require, and rewrite your CV into a results-focused template. You also ask it to point out anything that might cause a hiring manager to skip over your application.
Once your CV is polished, you prompt ChatGPT to search platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed for roles posted within the last seven days. It then compiles those listings into a spreadsheet, ranked by how closely they match your experience. After reviewing the list, you instruct it to work through and apply to up to 500 jobs, tailoring your CV for each one and tracking every submission. Can ChatGPT apply to 500 jobs?
The short answer is that it depends, according to Simple Apply. OpenAI's ChatGPT offers a feature called ChatGPT Work, which uses a cloud browser to navigate job websites, fill in application forms, and check in with the user when confirmation is needed. However, not every platform plays along, as some job sites actively block automated tools from accessing their systems. For that reason, a more cautious approach is better: start with 10 to 20 roles that closely match your profile, review the quality of each tailored CV, and confirm which applications were actually submitted before scaling up. Mass-applying without quality control could do more harm than good if your materials are not properly matched to each role.
