The Jacob Zuma Foundation recently headed to its Twitter page to release a statement on behalf of the former president about the passing of advocate Kemp, who had represented Zuma during his 2006 rape trial.
"I am indeed devastated by the sad news of the passing of Kemp J Kemp SC, a true professional who was able to perform his professional duties on my behalf regardless of the popular sentiment, even by those of legal fraternity, that I do not deserve representation.
"I am grateful and hugely indebted to him for the professional sacrifices he made to represent me under testing and difficult conditions. May his soul rest in eternal peace and his true commitment to justice for all be the lesson he leaves for his colleagues in the judiciary and the legal fraternity," read the statement.
The former president ends the statement by sending his condolences and well wishes to the family of the advocate, also adding that his memory will continue to be a lesson to those who have known him.
Meanwhile, SA has had this to say about the statement:
"When are we getting the statement about the ConCourt ruling"
"My deepest sincere condolences to the Kemp family and only his close friends like you. But I want to know if it is true that De Kock was being paid around R40k per month after being released on Parole in 2015 and what was the reason behind having to look at what he was arrested for."
"Someone actually said he did deserve representation, really? Who?"
Briefly.co.za previously reported that well known advocate Kemp J Kemp has passed away after contracting Covid-19 according to recent reports. Kemp is somewhat famous for his defence of ex-president Jacob Zuma during his 2006 rape trial.
The attorney's death on Tuesday night was confirmed by the chairman of the society of advocates in KwaZulu-Natal, Barry Skinner. SowetanLIVE reports that a close friend, who had not wanted to be named, commented that Kemp had been admitted to hospital after struggling with Covid-19 symptoms.
He had later been discharged and had been taking residence with a friend. However, Kemp had moved back to his Ballito apartment shortly before his death.
