Music commentator Nota Baloyi has landed himself in fresh controversy after making inflammatory remarks about Banyana Banyana on a recent podcast episode. The outspoken personality suggested that players' sexuality was damaging team cohesion and contributing to poor results on the pitch.
The comments aired on the Music Pulse Podcast on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, and were captured in a clip shared widely on X by @RealSihleIV. In the video, Nota argued that having players who are in relationships with one another creates an environment of "sexual tension" that makes it impossible to maintain professional order.

"We can't have a soccer team where two players are married to one another. How do we have team morale? How are we going to win competitions when relationships are on the line?" he said during the interview.

He also directed his commentary at the coaching staff, suggesting favouritism could stem from romantic interest. He went as far as linking South Africa's defeat to Morocco to the Moroccan team's perceived lack of sexual distraction, making a pointed and widely condemned comparison.
"That's why we got beaten by Morocco. Those girls wear burkas. Their skin hasn't seen the sun except for when they're playing," Nota said, adding that the country "can't support that."
