The outspoken music executive and social media commentator acknowledged that several claims he previously made about the internationally acclaimed musician had no valid basis.

Nota retracts allegations against Black Coffee
According to MDN NEWS @MDNnewss on X, Nota posted the apology on Monday, 10 August 2026, using wording that closely followed a Johannesburg High Court order issued in December 2025.

In the statement, Nota acknowledged making posts between September and November 2025 that accused or insinuated Black Coffee was involved in bribery, corruption, assault and other criminal activity. He admitted there was no valid basis for the claims and called them false and defamatory.
Court battle pushed apology
@MDNnewss further stated that the High Court had previously ordered Nota to remove the posts, refrain from making similar statements and publish a specific apology. He initially resisted the apology and challenged the order.
The dispute later escalated into contempt proceedings, with Black Coffee seeking a 60-day jail sentence over Nota’s alleged failure to comply. Shortly before the apology, the court instructed Nota to file his heads of argument within 10 court days.
