A Free State man turned recycling frustration into something far more interesting. Bestman, a TikToker based in the Lejweleputswa District Municipality in the north-western part of the Free State, posted a video on 30 July 2026 that had South Africans talking for all the right and wrong reasons.
It started with a disappointing trip to the recycling centre. After hauling a full sack of aluminium cans, Bestman walked away with only R36.
From recycling bin to runway
Rather than let the cans go to waste, Bestman put them to a very different use. He crafted and modelled outfits made entirely from the recycled cans, complete with decorative headwear featuring bottle caps and pull tabs. The backdrop of his shoot was a wall covered in cans, turning what looked like a scrapyard haul into a makeshift fashion studio.

The video posted on Bestman's TikTok quickly picked up attention, drawing both laughs and genuine admiration from viewers who had not quite seen anything like it before.
