Briefly News previously revealed that Tshego credited Riky Rick for helping him kick the habit. He mentioned that in the middle of a three-day drug binge, the late rapper gave him a call that forced him to turn his life around.
"He said, 'Just let us know if we should give up on you, boizen.' That was the last day I touched hard drugs; I only told him that story years later.
"His saying those simple words reminded me that I started this for myself, and the only person I’d be disappointing is me. When there are no accolades, I don’t cry; I do this for me."
Speaking about the journey of confronting his dependency and the ongoing work required to maintain his well-being, signalling to viewers that recovery is not a destination but a continuous process.
The star did not offer a tidy resolution to his story, instead presenting an honest account of where he currently stands in his recovery, which many found refreshing rather than scripted.
"Even though I was struggling, everything I went through shaped my music and who I am today.
He emphasised that he is "working on himself" and is consistently working on moving on from his dark past to focus on living better.
