Maskandi heavyweight Khuzani "Gatsheni" Ndlovu has stepped up in a big way for the family of the late Scebi "Inkos'yamagcokama" Dlamini, choosing to put his earnings where his heart is.
The multi-award-winning artist, who hails from Pongola in KwaZulu-Natal, handed over his full performance fee from the recent Impucuzeko Maskandi Festival to help complete Scebi's unfinished double-storey home — a project the beloved musician was working on before his sudden death.
Scebi's tragic passing
Scebi Dlamini was killed in a devastating car crash in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, in August, while travelling to a music festival. At the time of his passing, the musician was in the middle of building what was set to be his family home — a project left incomplete when death came calling far too soon.

Gatsheni, 36, described the loss as deeply personal, saying the two shared a close bond within the Maskandi music fraternity.
"He was my good music colleague, and I understand that when he sadly passed away, there were many unfinished things, including his double-storey house. Death took him when he wasn't ready," Gatsheni told Daily Sun.

Gatsheni's additional pledge to Scebi's family
Beyond the festival fee donation, Gatsheni revealed that Scebi had already been confirmed as a performer at his upcoming Gatsheni Music Festival, scheduled for Saturday, 3 October, at the Ncotshane Sport Ground in Pongola. Rather than simply cancel the booking, the star decided to honour the arrangement in a meaningful way.
"I will also give Scebi's family the payment he was going to receive for that performance," he said.
The gesture reflects not just a personal tribute to a fellow artist, but a practical effort to ensure that Scebi's family can see his dream brought to life. For Gatsheni, walking away with his earnings while a colleague's home sat unfinished was simply not an option. His wife also appreciated his colleague's kindness.
