South Africa's maskandi music fraternity is in mourning after Sicebi "Inkosi Yamagcokama" Dlamini from Msinga lost his life in a road accident on Sunday, 9 August 2026. He was travelling to the Basadi Festival in Richards Bay when the crash occurred, cutting short what should have been a celebratory journey.
KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport confirmed the tragedy in a Facebook statement, revealing that the accident unfolded at the traffic lights opposite Melomed Hospital in Richards Bay. Dlamini was not travelling alone; three other people were in the vehicle with him, and they were rushed to the hospital.
"One of the three occupants who were taken to the hospital has unfortunately departed. We express our deepest condolences to the mother of the occupant, and we wish those two other victims a speedy recovery," MEC of transport said.

Michale Nkambule dies
