Actress-turned-podcaster Angelique Gerber has given fans a peek behind the curtain of one of South Africa's most polarising political careers, announcing that Helen Zille sat down with her and co-host, former Miss South Africa Jacqueline "Jacs" Ferns, for a candid episode of Unscripted with Angie & Jacs, recorded on 23 October 2026.

Gerber, best known to South African audiences from her years on 7de Laan, took to Instagram to share a teaser that was equal parts admiring and playful. She described Zille as someone who "has taken on political giants, challenged the status quo, and built a career defined by conviction, controversy, and constant headlines" - before cheekily revealing that the veteran Democratic Alliance figure also shared dish-washing tips during the chat.

The former DA leader is no stranger to tough rooms, but Gerber promised the conversation would dig deeper than any press conference.

"We go beyond the headlines to explore the woman behind them: her convictions, her controversies, her courage, and the experiences that shaped one of South Africa's most recognisable political figures," Gerber wrote.

She rounded off the tease with a light jab: "Whether you agree with her, disagree with her, or simply want to understand what drives her, one thing is certain: Helen Zille is never boring. And if she can navigate South African politics, we're confident she can handle a few dirty dishes too!"

Helen Zille in campaign mode

The episode arrives at a charged moment. Zille is the DA's mayoral candidate for Johannesburg and is in the final stretch of her campaign ahead of the 4 November municipal elections, with her messaging centred on the city's worsening water crisis, crumbling infrastructure, and rising crime levels.

Supporters flooded the comments section of Gerber's post, with admiration directed at both the hosts and their guest.
