Fake AI-generated images of Tyler Perry on a yacht with an alleged boyfriend have taken over social media, and people have a lot to say about it. The manipulated photos spread rapidly across X, Facebook, and Instagram after X blogger @blacktwiterthrd posted them on 27 October 2026.

Tyler Perry's viral photos are not real

Several media outlets quickly flagged the images as fake and unverified, confirming they were AI-generated and not authentic photographs of the filmmaker. The pictures look convincingly real at first glance, which is exactly what sent them spiralling across platforms before most users could question them.

Sharp-eyed users did not take long to dig up the truth. One netizen traced the original photograph back to a Backgrid-credited image published in June 2025, revealing that the "mystery man" featured in the AI manipulation is Bryan Tanaka, who appeared in Perry's series Beauty in Black. The account that posted the images has drawn sharp criticism for presenting the content without a clear disclaimer.

Reactions from netizens

The post ignited a wave of responses, ranging from outright laughter to genuine frustration over the growing trend of AI-generated celebrity content:

@robynrbieber wrote:

"If this is AI, Tyler Perry finna sue y'all into oblivion. Either way I'm laughing."

@StormEllimac raised a broader concern, saying:

"What's this weird AI trend y'all got going on making celebrities 'hard launch' with this extremely awkward and unnatural kiss? I just saw a post with Tyler Perry and another of Sasha Obama???"

@AntifaHRDepart went further, calling out the original poster directly:

"For those interested, here's the original photo, published back in June 2025 and credited to Backgrid. That 'mystery man' is Bryan Tanaka, who appeared in Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black. You might want to update your bio. 'Propagandist' seems a hell of a lot more fitting than 'Satire.'"

Tyler Perry himself has not publicly addressed the fake images. The incident is the latest in a string of AI-generated celebrity hoaxes flooding social media, with users growing increasingly concerned about how easily manipulated content can pass for real.
