People magazine's annual SexiestMan Alive reveal dropped on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, and this year's pick has left the internet in a full-blown uproar. The title went to American actor Noah Wyle, and based on the reaction online, not everyone is on board.

TMZ shared the news on Instagram, posting the magazine's 9 November 2026 cover featuring Wyle alongside the bold subtext: "no second opinion needed." As it turns out, plenty of people had a very strong second opinion.

Who Is Noah Wyle?

Wyle is best known for his long-running role as Dr John Carter in the hit medical drama ER, which aired from 1994 to 2009. He has also appeared in The Librarians and more recently in The Lincoln Lawyer. While he has had a steady career in Hollywood, his latest title is arguably his most controversial.

Social media's verdict

The comments section under TMZ's post became a roast session almost immediately. Thousands of users piled on with jokes, shock, and outright disbelief, turning the reveal into one of the day's most talked-about moments online.

People has been crowning its Hottest Man Alive since 1985, with past recipients including Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba and Paul Rudd. The tradition has always attracted debate, but Wyle's crowning appears to have struck a particularly sceptical nerve this cycle. Whether the internet comes around to the magazine's choice remains to be seen.
