Kaizer Chiefs have been offered the chance to sign Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana, following the collapse of a proposed deal that would have taken him to Wydad Athletic Club.
SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe first reported the development, confirming that the 27-year-old has been made available to Amakhosi after his departure from Tunisian giants Esperance. "I've been told that Elias Mokwana has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs after his move to Wydad collapsed. It remains to be seen if he would be signed by the club," Molefe reported.
Mokwana is currently a free agent and has returned to South Africa following an international stint that included a loan spell in the Saudi Arabia Pro League before he rejoined Esperance this past season.

The winger first attracted widespread attention during his time at Sekhukhune United, where his performances caught the eye of clubs beyond South African borders. He made the move to Esperance in 2024, becoming one of the more prominent local players to venture into North African football.

Former PSL midfielder Mark Haskins has backed Mokwana to make a positive contribution at Naturena should a deal materialise. "I like him and definitely believe he will add value to that Kaizer Chiefs team," Haskins said, adding: "I was actually shocked that he left the country without being pursued by some of the giants of local football. He was fantastic at Sekhukhune before leaving the country."
Chiefs Weigh Up Attacking Options
Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has previously expressed a desire to strengthen his attacking unit, which may give Mokwana's potential signing added relevance. The club already has a number of wide players on the books, including Faiz Abrahams, Wandile Duba, Pule Mmodi, Asanele Velebayi and Langelihle Phili.
Mokwana's most natural position is on the right flank, where he could provide competition and additional depth in the squad. Whether Chiefs move to formalise their interest remains to be seen, as no agreement has been confirmed at this stage.
