A job seeker touched the hearts of many after sharing an emotional video detailing her frustrating job interview hardship.
The clip, shared on TikTok by @thatssoootshego, garnered massive attention and widespread empathy from social media users who were moved.
The video shows the woman, looking down and visibly upset, as she begins to vent about her recent job interview. She expresses her frustration, stating she was done applying for jobs and would no longer be submitting her CV, having had enough of companies playing with people's feelings. She explained that she lives in a small town outside Johannesburg and had to borrow money to travel to an interview an hour away. The young lady questioned why companies shortlist so many candidates when they have only a few positions available.

The draining interview process
She noted how, upon arrival, she was unexpectedly sent to another location to do her fingerprints, making her spend more money than anticipated, a total of R500 that she had to borrow. Another source of her frustration was the complicated assessment questions. She noted they were difficult, as if the position required a degree, when it only asked for a matric certificate.

Crying, she highlighted that while she didn't mind the questions themselves, they were only given 12 minutes to complete them. Sitting in her bedroom at home, she expressed how it had been a month without hearing from the company, convinced she wasn't selected after holding onto so much hope.
She declared she would never apply for a job again, noting this was the second such occurrence. The first time, she packed a bag and booked a guesthouse in Johannesburg to avoid being late for an interview, only to not be called back after a psychometric test. She concluded by saying she would seek online work instead of continuing the job search.

"I acted for two years in a position. This year, in July, I went to an interview for the very same position, but this time it was permanent. They appointed an intern who was trained by me. As we speak, I’m unemployed. This week will be week two of being home."

"I've stopped job hunting and started my own business😭😢."
User @MsPout explained:
"I'm in HR, and the rule of thumb is a 1:3 ratio. A certain percentage will fall off after the interviews. Another percentage falls off after pre-employment screening, and at the end, some candidates decline offers, and you need to have replacement candidates. Assessments are also used to shortlist, especially for high-volume vacancies. Askies, my dear, this is painful for me to watch. How I wish I could hire everyone unemployed 😥."
