A South African farm murders activist is asking the public to help him get to Washington DC. Petrus Phakamile Sitho posted a video on Facebook on 24 August 2026, holding up his passport and appealing to ordinary South Africans and companies to fund a trip that would take him all the way to the White House.
In the video, Sitho said he wants to carry a large white cross bearing the words “Stop Killing Our Farmers” to President Donald Trump’s doorstep. He described the cross as a symbol representing the thousands of farmers, women, and children he says have been killed, raped, and tortured in farm attacks across South Africa.
Sitho identified himself as the first activist to debate a petition on farm killings in Parliament, and said he also visited the Union Buildings in Pretoria to raise the issue with the presidency. He claimed his efforts were ignored.

Sitho’s appeal comes against the backdrop of ongoing debate in South Africa and internationally about the safety of farmers.
