SARS has cast a wide net in its pursuit of Shauwn Mkhize's alleged R125.9 million tax debt, and the fallout has pulled in some unexpected names. Court papers circulating on X revealed that Tamia Mpisane, Andile Mpisane's wife, was among those named alongside Mkhize's sister, her husband, and celebrity stylist Shaun in the legal proceedings.

The Durban High Court granted SARS permission to sell five Sandown properties linked to the businesswoman, dismissing objections raised by both Mkhize and her son Andile. The documents, reshared by X user @BridgetLed10871, confirmed that the tax authority's reach extended well beyond Mkhize herself.

Tamia's inclusion in the papers drew immediate attention, particularly because she appears to have distanced herself from the Mpisane name, reverting to Louw on Instagram amid swirling divorce rumours.

Why did Tamia marry in Community of Property?

That detail prompted X user @MalulekNhlamulo to ask a pointed question:

"Now why would Tamia get married in COP in this day and age?"

It's a question that resonated widely. Marrying in community of property means spouses share all assets and liabilities equally, which leaves both parties exposed when one side has significant financial or legal risk.

Reactions poured in from social media users weighing in on the marriage arrangement:

@UNVaV8:

"You thought she married for love? 😂"

@Bubu_Mazibuko:

"I'm sure it was because they are rich lol"

@MalulekNhlamulo replied:

"I'm actually more surprised that Mamkhize allowed Andile to get married in COP more than anything lol."

@advofchange offered a different angle:

"She's got nothing. Why would she marry out of COP"

@AzaniaJonas suggested the lobola arrangement may have played a role:

"From the look of things, it's because they paid lobola for her. The mom probably didn't know that is considered COP if no prenup was signed before lobola."

"With all this free information flying around on SM, people are just ignorant"

"Because she has nothing and they had everything"

Mkhize and Andile opposed the property sale

Briefly News previously reported that both Shauwn Mkhize and Andile formally contested SARS's application to sell the Sandown properties, but the judge dismissed their objections. The properties are now subject to a court-sanctioned sale process as part of efforts to recover the outstanding combined personal and Zikhulise Group tax debt.

With Tamia now seemingly stepping back from the Mpisane brand, her inclusion in the court documents adds another layer to what is already a complex and very public financial saga for the family.
