Mining magnate Madibela, the man behind MySol Holdings, has hit back at Julius Malema after the EFF leader called him out at the party's Tshela Thupa Rally in Letlhabile Stadium on 24 October 2026, a week before the November 4 local elections.
Malema's remarks targeted Madibela during a speech focused on pushing for greater black ownership of South Africa's mines. The crowd responded with cheers, but online the reaction was far more divided, with many pointing out the irony of attacking a black entrepreneur who built his empire from the ground up, starting as a site clerk after matric before growing MySol into a major chrome producer employing thousands.
Because Madibela has publicly stated he does not use social media, he turned to WhatsApp status updates to fire back. Knowing his reach would be limited, he asked his contacts to screenshot and circulate his response.
MySol trolls Malema
In the posts shared in the early hours of Sunday, 25 October, he wrote: "Malema o ngwana boy. Screenshot boys and send him... People must work hard for opportunities chief.... O je bogobe boy 🤕 you need energy." He also shared what appeared to be an AI-generated image of Malema looking gaunt, seemingly to drive home the dig.

The posts loosely translate to a pointed message: Malema is the real boy here, hard work earns opportunity, and the EFF leader needs to eat and build some strength.
Some observers speculated that MySol's decision not to donate to the EFF may have motivated Malema's public attack, framing it as a tension between the party's economic freedom rhetoric and independent black business owners who operate outside political patronage networks.

Social media users were quick to weigh in once the screenshots circulated.
@MaxNomaNini wrote: "It's hard being an EFF supporter, yerrr. Now they must start hating Mysol because Julius hates him Lmaoooooooooooooo. Mind you, Mysol has done more for black people than Malema."
@Mao_Azania added: "Julius Malema is not happy when indigenous Africans succeed in business in South Africa(MySol). He is using revolutionary rhetoric to hoodwink unsuspecting youth in his agenda of being the enabler of whites, keeping indigenous Africans the drawers of water and hewers of wood."
Not everyone was sympathetic to Madibela, however. @ZuluSweG kept it short: "MySol is cooking this fraud."
Malema proposes raising the pensioners' grant to R4500
Briefly News previously reported that Malema also proposed increasing the old-age grant to R4,500 per month.
He argued that the government could fund the increase by cutting unnecessary spending and reducing the number of ministers and deputy ministers.
