Mining tycoon Solomon "MySol" Madibela has escalated his legal war against Podcast and Chill host Macgyver "MacG" Mukwevho and North West businessman Benjamin "Benjy" Maponya, reportedly launching contempt of court proceedings that could see the pair imprisoned.

The legal showdown stems from a bitter business dispute between Madibela and Maponya over a multi-million-rand mining venture that ended in a public fallout.

The court order MacG and Maponya ignored

On 8 October 2026, the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg issued an urgent interim interdict in Madibela's favour. The ruling was specific: MacG and Maponya were prohibited from broadcasting, releasing, or streaming any episode containing allegations that linked Madibela to criminal conduct. Maponya was separately directed to pull down related posts on social media.

Despite Madibela's attorneys formally serving the legal notice, the podcast team aired the episode anyway that same day and pushed segments across multiple social platforms.

During the broadcast, Maponya, a former friend and business partner of MySol, alleged that Madibela had cut off his income, sidelined him from the N4 Cluster opencast mining project, and left him in financial ruin.

MySol fires back on Podcast and Chill

Madibela returned fire on 15 October, appearing on Podcast and Chill to exercise his right of reply. He flatly rejected Maponya's version of events, telling MacG to his face that legal action for defamation and extortion was already in motion. He also warned the host directly that flouting a court interdict carries criminal consequences, including the possibility of a prison sentence.

Madibela argued that Maponya had never brought a single deal to the table and lacked the corporate relationships needed to secure contracts with a heavyweight mining house such as Samancor.

To bolster his position, Madibela's camp released WhatsApp messages that, according to his team, showed Maponya using the threat of going public on social media and community platforms as leverage. Madibela labelled these actions as both defamatory and an extortion attempt.

He also dismissed Maponya's claims about receiving "bizarre personal ultimatums," which reportedly included a demand that he divorce his wife before any payments would be made, describing the characterisation as a distortion of the facts.

According to TimesLIVE, both MacG and Maponya have been issued a rule nisi and are expected to appear in court on 22 October to argue why the interim interdict should not be made permanent.
