A South African woman known on Instagram as @qhubo_ngema had no intention of paying R6,000 for a bed. So she went looking for a better option and found one worth sharing with the whole country.
In a video posted on 2 October 2026, she walked viewers through a furniture store called Power Furnishings, located at 22 Pretoria Road in Kempton Park, Johannesburg. The clip shows rows of wrapped mattresses, headboards, cupboards, and sofas, all with price tags that left her genuinely surprised.
Budget bed, big savings
She picked up a foam bed for R2,800 and a headboard for R500, with the entire purchase, including delivery, coming to less than R3,500. Headboards at the store range from R700 to no more than R900, she noted, describing them as great quality for queen-sized beds. She said in the video:

"The first night I slept in the bed, I woke up in the morning, checked everything. I'm like, no man. This is too good to be true."
She tagged the store's associated brand, African Gold & Diamond Pawn in her caption and shared contact numbers.
She was so impressed that she jokingly threatened to start reselling the furniture herself at a markup, saying:
"I'm going to start selling these in Joburg and I'm going to double the price. You know, because, guys, I'm trying to make a living."
The store is particularly suited to people who are just starting out or working with a tight budget, she said.
