A Gauteng taxi passenger turned heads on social media after her candid in-taxi speech about commuting manners struck a chord with South Africans. TikTok user @kgao305 shared the clip on 27 August 2026, and it quickly spread across the platform. In it, a woman seated among fellow passengers addresses them directly, speaking in Sepedi/Setswana about two things that clearly frustrate her: how people pass taxi fare and whether they bother to greet when they board.

Taxi etiquette is serious business

The woman made it clear that front-seat passengers and drivers are not accountants. When commuters toss in mixed notes and coins without explaining what they need in change, it creates unnecessary confusion for everyone involved. She urged passengers to sort themselves out before handing money forward.

Her other grievance was equally firm: greet when you get in. She argued that a simple hello costs nothing and that ignoring fellow passengers is plain rude. Her delivery was passionate but composed, and viewers respected every word of it.

Mzansi stands with her

For many South Africans, the woman in the taxi said out loud what most people silently feel every morning on the way to work. South Africans flooded the comments section to back her up, with many sharing their own frustrations about taxi rides and public spaces.

Not everyone agreed on the greeting part, though.
