A South African refugee living in Ohio found himself at the centre of a citizen sting operation after activist group Predator Poachers tracked him down at his workplace in North Olmsted.

The young man, 28, was confronted at a Walmart store in the early hours of the morning by Alex Rosen of Predator Poachers, who had driven through the night to reach him. The group alleged that the refugee had communicated explicitly online with an operative posing as a minor and had admitted to trading illicit exploitation materials. During the confrontation, which was filmed and later shared on X on 19 October 2026, the young man acknowledged receiving and sending explicit content, saying he did so to "fit in" and feel a sense of connection.

According to law enforcement records compiled by Recently Booked, he faces three counts of pandering obscenity and one count of possessing criminal tools.
