SOUTH AFRICA — The Ad Hoc Committee investigating criminal infiltration and corruption has received additional time to assemble its official findings for Parliament. This was after the Committee requested an extension as its first report remained.
According to SABC News, National Assembly leader Thoko Didiza signed off on a revised schedule for the Committee on 11 September 2026, replacing the mid-September deadline with a late-October target date. The decision marks the sixth operational extension issued since the inquiry began.
Committee Chairperson Soviet Lekganyane noted that organizing extensive witness depositions and legal submissions created significant procedural backlogs. Operational friction, distinct political views among members, and campaign commitments also contributed to the revised timeframe.
While formal testimony wrapped up mid-year, committee members remain focused on shaping disparate evidence into an initial summary paper. Spokesperson Moloto Mothapo confirmed that the leadership granted the schedule change to ensure proper preparation before the completed dossier goes before the full chamber for consideration next month.
