GAUTENG – Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga has had enough of Fadiel Adams calling him Chief.
The Chairperson of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry repeatedly asked the National Coloured Congress leader not to call him Chief during his testimony on 19 August 2026. Adams was testifying before the Commission, which is probing allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption within the criminal justice system.
Madlanga takes issue with Adams’ repeated use of the word Chief
During the Member of Parliament’s testimony, Justice Madlanga reprimanded him for repeatedly referring to the Commissioners as "Chief."

"I'm not Chief. Please, just try to drum that into your head. I'm not Chief," he said.
Adams, caught off guard, responded immediately, apologising. Earlier, he called Madlanga Chief as well and followed it up by calling him boeta.
