GAUTENG — Proceedings in the corruption trial of former defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula were cut short after she became unwell inside the Gauteng High Court.
Footage from within the court showed Mapisa-Nqakula being comforted by a person standing alongside her, as she sat inside the courtroom. Her legal team then asked for a postponement, saying that she required medical attention
The State did not oppose the request, and the matter was postponed to Thursday, 9 September 2026. The former minister faces a total of 12 counts of corruption and one count of money laundering.

Prosecutors allege she received approximately R4.5 million in bribes from a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) contractor between 2016 and 2019, of which R2.1 million was paid in cash.
