Mama Joy Chauke has found herself at the centre of fresh online criticism after posting a birthday message for South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan on X on 3 September 2026.
In the post, Chauke told Jordaan she loved him and went a step further by declaring that her "Lord" and "Ancestors" would gift him with an electoral victory during his birthday month.
"I declare you will win the elections on your birthday month… Congratulations in Advance and enjoy your day. Love you," she wrote, tagging him directly.
Mama Joy's history with SAFA
The birthday wish drew immediate backlash, largely because of the complicated history between Chauke and SAFA. During the FIFA World Cup, SAFA did not sponsor her attendance at the tournament. She ultimately had to secure private sponsorship to make the trip, a decision that drew wide public sympathy at the time.
Her continued public displays of affection for Jordaan have since left many South Africans bewildered and dismissive, with critics accusing her of seeking favour despite the organisation's past treatment of her.
