Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali has won his case against Chippa United at the Premier Soccer League Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC), with his legal representative confirming that the PSL has deducted money from the club’s grant to settle the outstanding amount.

Jali took the Gqeberha-based club to the DRC over unpaid remuneration dating back to his spell with Chippa between 2024 and 2025. His representative, attorney Thembelani Mpakati, confirmed the outcome while speaking to Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000.

Mpakati said the former Orlando Pirates midfielder was not always paid his full contractual salary while at Chippa.

“Andile was owed money by Chippa,” Mpakati said, according to iDiski Times.
“Sometimes when his salary was paid, it was partially paid. These were the monies owed. The PSL DRC ruled in Jali’s favour.”

The legal representative then explained how the ruling was implemented.

“Today [Thursday, 1 October, 2026] they deducted money from the club’s grant and sent it to us, the attorneys, to pay Andile,” he said.

Mpakati also thanked the PSL and its leadership for dealing with the matter.

“We thank the PSL and the CEO for their swift response and resolution to this matter,” he added.

The 36-year-old Jali left Chippa in 2025 after his stint with the club. The DRC case centred on outstanding payments rather than his performances on the pitch.

Chippa United face another financial dispute

The ruling comes during a difficult period for Chippa, who have also faced FIFA registration restrictions.

In August 2026, FIFA imposed a registration ban after the club failed to comply with an order involving former midfielder Roland Sanou. The restriction prevented Chippa from registering new players and could run for three consecutive registration periods unless the outstanding obligation was settled.

Jali’s successful DRC case therefore adds another financial dispute involving the Eastern Cape club to the football headlines, although the two matters are separate.

The latest development means the money awarded through the PSL DRC process is now being channelled through Jali’s legal representatives.

Briefly News previously reported that Chippa United had also been dealing with a separate financial dispute involving former coach Luc Eymael, which had reached FIFA.

Chippa reportedly settled the outstanding payment in July 2026, but the club still needed confirmation of the payment before FIFA could lift the registration restriction and allow new players to be registered.

The development adds further context to the financial issues surrounding the Eastern Cape club.
