Springbok Stars Face Anxious Wait After URC Injury Scares

  • Springboks captain Andre Esterhuizen, Handre Pollard and Deon Fourie face anxious waits after suffering injury scares during the latest URC matches
  • The Sharks have confirmed that three injured players will return to South Africa for scans and specialist assessments
  • The Bulls and Stormers are also managing several injury concerns, with some players facing spells on the sidelines

Several Springbok stars are facing uncertain spells on the sidelines after picking up injuries during the latest round of United Rugby Championship (URC) action.

Andre Esterhuizen, Handre Pollard and Deon Fourie were among the players who suffered worrying injuries over the weekend, raising concerns about their availability for the upcoming international fixtures.

Pollard has already undergone a scan after reporting a hamstring complaint, according to the Bulls. The results will help determine the extent of the injury and whether the flyhalf could miss the Springboks' end-of-year tour.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have confirmed that three of their injured players will return to South Africa for further medical assessments. Esterhuizen, who recently captained the Springboks, sustained a right ankle injury and is expected to miss the November Tests.
