A Sunday church service took an unexpected turn when an American prophet and his first wife stepped up to the pulpit to introduce the newest addition to their household. Rather than delivering a routine sermon, the couple stunned churchgoers by announcing they had entered a polygynous union, officially welcoming a second wife to the congregation with open arms.

The scene shared on X by @yabaleftonline played out at LifeWorks Church, where Prophet Israel Ford and his first wife, Lydia Ford, addressed the room under a banner reading "Kingdom Marriage". Lydia took the lead in addressing the worshippers, explaining that their family was now living out what she termed a polygynous union.

She then introduced fellow minister Shakayla Ford to the congregation, affectionately calling her a sister in marriage and reminding members that they had long enjoyed her ministry. When Shakayla took the stage, she acknowledged that people would naturally have questions and concerns, but maintained that their unique family dynamic was fully aligned with divine will.

Afterwards, on Facebook, Prophet Israel Ford defended their union, arguing that traditional teachings limiting a man to one wife are unbiblical. He acknowledged that while many church leaders steer clear of preaching polygyny, he was not interested in seeking human validation. He added that even if people decided to walk away over the revelation, they could laugh about it together in heaven.

The video clip, shared on X by @yabaleftonline on 26 October 2026, sparked widespread discussion across the internet as users weighed in on the unconventional marriage dynamic:

@NNFXMA quoted scripture:

"Genesis 2:24: 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' This is God's design for marriage. Every biblical character that went against this and married multiple wives, their homes were in bits as a result."

@retweet_repostz commented:

"Wow. Coming out to acknowledge this is what I love about it. Many pastors have girlfriends out there or probably sleeping with other people's wives."

@BenjaminHa32198 humorously reacted:

“'He’s poured so much into me'. We know exactly what he has poured into you 😅."

@PraiseFelix13 warned:

"You’ll still find some folks out here having second thoughts on what they’ve always believed. Take heed, brethren; these are the last days."

@Haramide_TT noted:

"Last last, everyone will go back to the old ways. This is the best way. Western education changed everything."
