Floyd Shivambu is confident that the ANC will be taken down in the Gauteng province.

The EFF deputy-president weighed in on speculation ahead of the final results, echoing the DA's sentiments that the ruling party would fail to secure the majority:

"One thing which we can categorically say right now is that there will not be an outright winner in Gauteng. So those Twitter fools and all sort of semi-illiterate people who were celebrating the victory of the ANC, did so prematurely."

Shivambu claimed that once the results came in for Soweto and other key metros, the ANC would find themselves deeply disappointed.

According to The Sowetan, Shivambu has not ruled out the possibility of coalitions, but there was one strict condition for any partnership - to implement EFF policies.

The deputy is convinced that the results were a sign of a dying ruling party, commenting that:

"It is the beginning of the fall of the ANC. Nobody ever thought the ANC would go below 60%, we have single-handedly brought the ANC below 60% and we will defeat them."
