Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, is making waves across the world and more powerful and well-known celebrities are noticing.
So many Mzansi celebs have celebrated Mzansi’s Zozi on social media, not only because of her resounding beauty, but for her mind and causes that she holds closer to her heart. One of them is women empowerment.
According to Okmzansi, Zozibini’s winning answer about teaching young girls leadership resonated with many people, including actress Gabrielle Union, who was ousted as America Got Talent judge for speaking up against the toxic workplace culture.
Gabrielle shared a snap of Zozi on Instagram, calling her her woman crush.
She wrote: "Today’s #WCW is our 2019 Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi (@zozitunzi) of South Africa. While stunning on the outside, her true beauty shines from within as a passionate advocate for women and girls around the world. When asked what what she thinks is the most important thing young girls should be taught, she responded “leadership”. She believes women are the most powerful beings in the world and should focus on taking up space in society. Additionally, for the first time in history black women hold the titles for Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and now Miss Universe! Thank you Zozibini for motivating us all and reminding us ladies that it’s time to TAKE UP SPACE. Let us lift her up in the light of goodness and hold her there."
Gabrielle also shared another important message to her fans on Instagram about Zozibini's leadership.
"You want to set yourself apart from the pack? Be a leader. When @zozitunzi spoke about leadership and taking up space, she challenged us all to not go along to get along. Complacency has never inspired change or positive results. She implores us to recognise the value of our voices above all else. Do not shrink yourself. Taking up space, being your full authentic self, that is the key. That is real winning!"
American singer, Ciara, also showed Zozi some love, pointing out that Miss Universe, Miss USA Teen, Miss America and Miss USA winners were all black women.
“This gives me chills! For the 1st time ever, 4 Black Women rocking the crowns of these historic and iconic institutions at the same time. So happy to celebrate these #Melanin Queens ”
