Master KG has declared how grateful he is to have been nominated for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards in the category of Best African Act.

The artist was aware of how much of an honour the nomination was and posted a pic to Instagram to ask his fans for their vote. Mzansi has spread nothing but support and love online in hearing the news of one of their faves getting recognised for his music.

The Jerusalema hitmaker gushed about how the nod was going to change the course of his career and thanked MTV for giving him the recognition he's worked hard for.

TimesLive quoted Master KG as saying,

"Thank you so much MTV for this nomination in the Best African Act category at the EMAs. I'm so excited right now. This is a life-changing moment for me."

In earlier news, Briefly.co.za reported on the announcement of Master KG, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small getting nominated for the award.

All three artists have been nominated for the chance to add some international awards bling to their collections. The three Mzansi favourites have been nominated for the MTV Europe Awards in the category of Best African Act.

The winner of the same category from last year, Burna Boy, is nominated alongside the three South Africans. Since the category is from all of Africa, there are some other nations being represented too. Our local musicians are accompanied by Rema from Nigeria, Sheebah from Uganda and Gaz Mawete, who hails from the DRC.

Nominees for other awards on the night include superstars from around the world. Lady Gaga bagged the most nominations with seven in total and Korean group BTS tied with Justin Bieber for their five nods.

Mzansi will be rooting for the SA nominees to win at the awards show but there's no question that it was an achievement just to be nominated for the prestigious honours.
