The Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma's whereabouts have been unknown for two months now since he made a controversial speech against Xi Jinping's government.
The tech billionaire and the founder of Alibaba had accused Xi's Central Communist Party (CCP) of stifling innovation.
The business mogul called out the government’s financial regulators and state-owned banks likening them to an 'old people's club' and championing for reforms.
The speech is reported to have irked the Chinese government, which reciprocated by clamping down on his business activities.
Serious concerns about his whereabouts began when he failed to appear as a judge in the final episode of his own talent show, Africa’s Business Heroes. Subsequently, his photos were also removed from the show's official website, raising eyebrows.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that China is the latest nation to impose travel bans on SA.
Numerous countries have opted to impose travel bans on SA, banning flights completely to Mzansi. Now, China has joined this list and extended a compulsory quarantine by an additional seven days, 21 in total, for all visitors from outside the country.
All people who have been in SA over the past 21 days are now banned from boarding for Hong Kong. A statement was released on Christmas even with authorities commenting on the situation:
"Noting the drastic change of the global pandemic situation with the new virus variant found in more countries, there is a need for the government to introduce resolute measures immediately to ensure that no case would slip through the net even under very exceptional cases where the incubation period of the virus is longer than 14 days."
In other news, ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte says that SA minus the ANC simply cannot be imagined. Without going into specifics as to why, Duarte also claimed that the ANC being dethroned would spark a civil war:
“Comrades, it is very difficult when you speak with people who doubt that the ANC should continue. You know in your heart that you can never live in a country where there is no ANC because the opposite to that would be chaos and, undoubtedly, a civil war that we all don’t want."
