In a press statement, Herman Mashaba revealed that his political party ActionSA launched a number of private prosecutions against those who avoid facing the consequences for taking part in crime.

According to Mashaba, ActionSA is going to closely monitor the investigation to ensure that the Mayor of Johannesburg is arrested and goes to court for his alleged transgressions.

"This is the only comfort that we can offer the people of Johannesburg about their city being presided over by an individual heavily implicated as a major figure in the ANC’s organised capture of our state," said Mashaba.

A number of social media users reacted to the statement by Herman Mashaba on behalf of ActionSA:

@ItsRadebe commented: Celebrate once there's a successful prosecution. At one time we were told that Duduzane was on the run, we saw him in leg irons only to turn out that it was just nothing but political."
@VeezO07 said: "Pressure them for updates every week, or else they'll just let it sit for years."
@simaxis commented: "Good to hear but no doubt it will be another long winded investigation with appeal after appeal and commission after commission .We need special fast track courts to prosecute thieves of State."
