The man South Africans have been calling their "own John Wick" is now sharing the safety knowledge that may have saved his life, and it is striking a chord across the country.

Security expert Sidney, who shot to fame after he survived a dramatic Pinetown hijacking incident and protected his family, sat down for a studio-style interview to share practical vehicle safety tips with everyday South Africans.

Sidney's top tips for staying safe on the road

His first piece of advice was simple but critical: always scan your surroundings before you get out of your car or step out of your front door. If you notice anyone loitering near your driveway, do not get out. Keep your doors locked and stay alert until you are certain the situation is safe.

His second tip drew particular attention online. Sidney said that if you can reverse into your driveway rather than driving in nose-first, you should make a habit of it. He said:

"I promise you it will save your lives. Drive in forward and you'll save your life, I promise."

Reversing in means you are always ready to drive out quickly in an emergency, without having to manoeuvre under pressure.

The interview was shared on TikTok by @plus27daily and quickly gained traction, with many viewers saying they had never considered the reverse parking tip before.
