- Simphiwe Dana shared that she was feeling sorry for Uganda ahead of their presidential elections
- The singer/songwriter asked her followers what she thinks that the African Union (AU) will do about the situation
- A few social media users commented on the post with most of them dragging the AU for not helping
Simphiwe took to Twitter to share that her heart is heavy because of what is taking place in the East African country Uganda. Uganda is currently about to undergo presidential elections and the government has banned social media ahead of them.
President Yoweri Museveni has won every presidential election since 1996 but he is now up against some tough opposition in the popular singer, Bob Wine.
Internet users in the country have been complaining about not being able to access social media platforms to campaign.
Simphiwe Dana said that she was heartbroken about the situation and is wondering what the African Union (AU) is going to do about it.
"What is happening in Uganda is heartbreaking. What is the AU doing about Museveni? So many human rights abuses happening under the AU’s nose," said Simphiwe.
A number of social media users commented on the post, with most of them dragging the AU:
@vocalAngel101 said: "Do not forget who is the head of AU. Toothless Dog."
@lulushezi commented: "Which AU sisi? That's just a stokvel for old corrupt leaders to gather and act like they are doing something."

@justrap said: "AU will do nothing, most of those grandfathers protect each other at all costs."
