Newlyweds Shave Their Heads in Solidarity with Mum Fighting Cancer

A video of a couple displayed a show of solidarity to the bride's mother at their wedding ceremony has been circulating online. The newlyweds decided to shave their hair in solidarity with the woman who was battling cancer at the time.

The lovebirds stunned their guests on their big day when they took to the dance floor to show the woman, Luna Macapagal, that she was not alone in her battle.

Alistair and his wife Jony warmed his new mother-in-law's heart. Sadly, Luna passed away on 12 January, 2021.

Luna, from Auckland, New Zealand, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2018, Indian Times reports.

The bride said it was her new husband who came up with the idea to surprise their guests and shave their hair at the wedding reception.

As the world marked Cancer Day on 4 February, Briefly.co.za reported on US vice president Kamala Harris choosing to remember her mother who died of colon cancer a year after her diagnosis.

She shared how her doctor mother relocated to the United States to help in finding cancer cure only for her to be diagnosed with the same illness.

''My mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, came to this country with a dream: to cure cancer. She became a breast cancer scientist and worked for decades in the lab to advance the fight against the deadly disease.
