Lasizwe Dambuza has been unmasked as Sushi on The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3, ending weeks of speculation from both the show's detectives and viewers at home.
The content creator and television personality was sent to the Danger Zone alongside another contestant, Gogga, during the latest episode. When Gogga won the head-to-head vote, Sushi was forced to remove the mask, revealing Lasizwe to the studio audience and the show's panel of detectives.
Somizi gets it right
Of all the detectives on the panel, Somizi Mhlongo was the only one who correctly named Lasizwe before the unmasking. The correct call moved Somizi closer to claiming the Golden Ear trophy, which goes to the detective who identifies the most masked celebrities throughout the season.

The clues that gave it away
During the episode, host Mpho Popps ran ‘The Clue Game’, which produced three items: a cellphone, a Martini glass, and an R10 note. Each one mapped directly onto a chapter of Lasizwe's career. He first began creating content after winning a cellphone in a competition. The R10 note pointed to the ‘R10 Goes a Long Way’ campaign he helped launch in 2021 to support students struggling with university registration fees. The Martini glass was a nod to his popular YouTube show Drink or Tell the Truth.
After pulling off the mask, Lasizwe told Mpho Popps that performing in disguise had been an enjoyable experience. He also had a laugh at his own expense when it came to his moves on stage. He said:
"I don't know how to dance, but I can now. Y'all can book me!"
The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3 airs on SABC 2 on Saturdays at 7 pm, with rebroadcasts on SABC 1 on Thursdays at 9 am and on SABC 2 on Fridays at 1:30 pm.
