Former Mamelodi Sundowns football coach along with his current team, Egyptian side, Al Ahy, recently receievd a hearty shoutout from football legend Sunday Oliseh on Twitter following their 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich earlier this week.
In his post, Oliseh praises the team and their coach for heading on to the field with a game plan and "tactically" competed with their European champion opposition. Oliseh also remarked that Al Ahly and Mosimane were the "real winners."
"Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane made me so proud yesterday the way he tactically competed with a star-studded Bayern Munich. He showed no complex and had a game plan. great African Ambassador. Though they lost, for me, Al Ahly & Mosimane were the real winners last night. Bravo Bro!," he wrote in the tweet.
Meanwhile many avid football fans headed to the busy comment section where they shared their views on the tweet. Read a few of them below:
"History will also tell us that Pitso got the triple and Al-Ahly became the African champion and he has not lost any match since his inauguration except in front of the world champion."
"We are fans Ahly who very trust in Mr. Pitso Mosimane, and for him and all the stars of the brown continent that we are honored to have, and you have all the love and appreciation in our hearts. Thank you, the great Captain Sunday"
Briefly.co.za previously reported that South African born football coach Pitso Mosimane's Egyptian team Al Ahly just missed the opportunity to play in the Fifa World Cup finals after they suffered a thorough defeat at the hands or rather feet of Bayern Munich at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Doha, Qatar, on Monday this week.
While many hopes were high after Mosimane was able to get the team to the semi-finals, it was soon deflated as Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski scored the first goal against Al Ahly in the first 17 minutes of the game.
While the Egyptian side tried valiantly to stand their ground, the team suffered a big blow when Ali Ma’aloul got injured and was replaced by Yasser Ibrahim. Not too long thereafter Lewandowski was back at it and scored yet another brilliant goal, securing the win for the European champions.
