Taraji P Henson has opened up about the salary she received for her role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
The veteran US actress shared that she was "gutted" to only take home $40 000 (just over R586 000) in the movie, which grossed over $335.8 million.
The superstar earned an Oscar nomination for slaying her role as Queenie in the movie released in 2008. She revealed in a recent interview on the Ladies First With Laura Brown podcast that the studio wouldn't pay her what she was asking for and then "I was gutted."
The Independent reports that she revealed that after paying her team, she was only left with $40k. Taraji expressed that she has learnt to stand up for herself following that experience. She said that what she experienced then helped her realise her worth.

The American actress posted a series of emojis on Nandi's Instagram post that showed a close-up of her new hair. Clearly, Taraji thought Nandi looked stunning with her bold hairdo.
Nandi chose a cropped style that was dyed bright bubblegum pink and had little multi-coloured triangles in different places to add a unique twist. Nandi captioned the picture of her hair with, "Be Proud of your Crown. #Organic #AfricanQueen."
Taraji's comment on the picture garnered over 300 likes and the picture itself had over 35 000 people loving it. Followers from Mzansi also took to the comments to share the love and add what they thought of the new look. Most followed Taraji's lead and left fire and heart emojis while some wrote down their feelings.
