An American visitor arrived in Johannesburg in the early hours of 28 August 2026 and, within a single day, had a change of heart about South Africans that she felt compelled to share with the world.
TikToker @nk_angel19_ posted a candid clip from the city, filmed after just 16 hours on South African soil. In it, she said she now fully understood why South Africans carry themselves with such confidence.
"I'm starting to understand why South Africans are so 'uppity,'" she said in the overlay text.
In the video, she explained that the country's energy had completely caught her off guard. She said if Johannesburg were her home city, she would not care about anything either. She even drew a comparison to London, saying Joburg "lowkey mogs" the British capital.

She also brought Grammy-winning South African artist Tyla into the conversation, saying the country's vibe explained exactly why the singer moves through the world the way she does.
Her only hesitation about making South Africa a permanent plan was the high rate of violence against women, which she said gave her pause.
"If it wasn't for that, I would definitely be living here," she admitted.
