- They took to the internet to vent their frustrations at what seemed like an impossible choice
Twitter users have taken to the internet to vent their frustration over NSFAS funding and the R350 social grant.
As it stands tweeps are questioning if they have to choose between studying or the R350 social grant, for some, they don't have a choice and the grant is vital to their survival.
"I understand being denied the R350 because you’re on NSFAS but being denied NSFAS because you got R350? "
"We must start burning things honestly"
Some questioned this, one tweep replied that if you get accepted for NSFAS then you get two grants but others said it was too risky to cancel the R350 and risk not being accepted by NSFAS.
"How do you cancel your income while you are not guaranteed that @myNSFAS is going to approve you? I am willing to cancel my 350 if I’m guaranteed for @myNSFAS."
"According to NSFAS and government i if you are unemployed you must stay on the 350 forever but you cannot have aspirations to go and study at university they won't give you finding because you are already benefiting ka 350."
"NSFAS deleted that rubbish tweet. They must be investigated. I think they were illegally rejecting applicants of grant recipients. The admin mistakenly disclosed that information."
Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that the South African Social Development Ministry has come up with a schedule for payment of social grants for the next twelve months. This move has made it easier for the beneficiaries to have a smooth sail on SASSA payment dates. The decision will also give the ministry an easier time remitting the allowances.
The South African Social Security Agency recently announced the dates for the payment of grants. Apart from the schedule, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni also reported an increase in the allowances. The details of SASSA payment dates as announced by the agency will go a long way in ensuring you show up on time for the funding.
