- The EFFs Floyd Shivambu took to social media to defend Advocate Dali Mpofu after his outburst on Tuesday
- Mpofu started trending after he told Michelle le Roux to 'shut up' during a session of the State Capture Commission
- In Mpofu's defence, Shivambu shared an old video of President Cyril Ramaphosa using the same words against John Steenhuisen
After Tuesday's heated end to the State Capture Commission, Advocate Dali Mpofu started trending on social media. Mpofu was heard telling Minister of Public Enterprise Pravin Gordhan's council to "shut up".
Many on social media discussed whether or not Mpofu was in the wrong for his outburst. The Economic Freedom Fighters' Floyd Shivambu jumped to Mpofu's defence through a video shared on social media.
Shivambu shared a video of President Cyril Ramaphosa telling the Democratic Alliance's John Steenhuisen to "shut up". Shivambu created quite the buzz online after sharing the video.
Take a look at Shivambu's post below:
Briefly.co.za took to Shivambu's replies section to see what South Africans are saying:
"Yirre this race card is getting boring. I was waiting for you to pull that card, so predictable"
"Let's be honest, Dali Mpofu is overrated. He was definitely exposed last night as a Double Agent. Under pressure, he gets emotional and arrogant. Next time tell him he must leave his EFF jacket at home."
"But you once said it yourself that Dali is a useless attorney parachuted into law..."
"But c’mon my brother @AdvDali_Mpofu was not in his bag last night he was emotional doesn’t his work require him to separate from emotion?"
"I've been waiting for your take on this one and I am not surprised by what you've just written here!!!"
"For a minute @AdvDali_Mpofu forgot he was not in Parli talking about he is still speaking on the floor interrupting as the EFF do."
Briefly.co.za earlier reported that Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan and Advocate Dali Mpofu had a sour end to the Minister's cross-examination at the Commission. The session was chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo and Advocate Dali Mpofu represented former SARS' Commissioner Tom Moyane.
The session concluded on a heated note as Mpofu was heard yelling "Shut up" at Michelle le Roux, who represented Gordhan. Gordhan had answered a question about allegations of racism earlier and Le Roux brought it up again.
Zondo stated that he did not need to hear Gordhan's explanation once more but the minister asked if he could comment on the matter. Mpofu objected and Le Roux began to explain why she wanted Gordhan to respond again. This caused frustration on Mpofu's side.
