It all started after Hunter's marriage to Kathleen Biden ended in a separation, which saw him and Hallie pair up to offer support to each other.

"Hallie and I are incredibly lucky to have found the love and support we have for each other in such a difficult time, and that's been obvious to the people who love us most." Hunter had told Page Six.

The two split in April 2019, leaving many confused about the whole idea from its onset. Hunter's affair with his sister-in-law not only cost him clients and business but also forced him to step down from his prestigious position at the World Food Programme (WFP).

"It came out of a real overwhelming grief that we both shared, and we were together and trying to do the right thing and that grief turned into a hope for a love that maybe could replace what we lost," he explained.

He was however categorical that the relationship "didn't work," which is why they chose to go separate ways.

Not long after, Hunter found love again, this time in the arms of a filmmaker from South Africa called Melissa Cohen. The couple had their wedding days after meeting and have been blessed with their firstborn named Beau.

Hunter, a Yale-trained lawyer, has oftentimes made headline news time and again for all the wrong reasons, among them substance abuse, stints at rehab, and financial scandals. He has since documented all his struggles in a book titled "Beautiful Things" as part of his continued effort to rebuild his life and regain an image he lost for decades.

Previously, Briefly.co.za reported that Joe Biden has a South African daughter-in-law. Biden's second son Hunter married the South African stunner in a secret ceremony last year. Melissa is from Johannesburg.
